Covina, CA - Effective today, Teamsters Local 911 has merged into Teamsters Local 986, forming the largest Teamsters Local in the United States with over 30,000 members. This landmark union strengthens the collective voice of thousands of Teamster members across a wide range of industries, expanding representation and bargaining power throughout the Western United States.
The merger underscores the Teamsters ongoing commitment to building stronger unions, enhancing member services, and securing better contracts for working families.
“This merger brings together two strong Locals with a proud history of fighting for workers,” said Chris Griswold, Secretary-Treasurer of Teamsters Local 986. “Together, we are building a more powerful future for all Teamster members—one rooted in unity, strength, and solidarity.”
Teamsters Local 986 now represents an even broader coalition of workers in both the public and private sectors, including transportation, hospitality, municipal services, and more.
