Wildomar, California – Teamsters Local 1932 and Teamsters Local 986 have partnered to secure union recognition for approximately 45 City of Wildomar employees across the General, Supervisory, and Management units, marking a significant victory for public sector workers in Riverside County.
Local 1932 led a focused and effective organizing campaign, spearheaded by Organizer Raquel Avila, resulting in petitions demonstrating overwhelming majority support. An independent third-party verified the proof of support, and with no objections or competing petitions filed during the mandatory 30-day posting period under the Meyers-Milias-Brown Act, the recognition became automatic today.
On December 2nd, the Teamsters issued a firm cease-and-desist letter instructing the City of Wildomar to halt any unilateral changes to job descriptions, classifications, or compensation while recognition was pending. The City complied, ensuring the organizing process remained fair and protected.
With recognition secured, Teamsters Local 986, one of the strongest and most experienced public-sector locals in California, will now take the lead on day-to-day representation and negotiations for Wildomar’s first collective bargaining agreement. Local 986’s depth, resources, and regional expertise, position the union to deliver both immediate protections and long-term improvements for these new members.
“This partnership shows the strength of the Teamsters when we work together,” said Randy Korgan, Secretary-Treasurer of Teamsters Local 1932. “Raquel Avila and our organizing team delivered a decisive victory for these workers. With Local 986 stepping in to assist and represent and negotiate, these members now have the full support of a powerhouse local committed to raising standards across Southern California within their respective jurisdiction.”
“Local 986 is proud to welcome these City of Wildomar employees into the Teamsters,” said Raymond Whitmer, Secretary-Treasurer of Teamsters Local 986. “We are ready to lead representation, enforce workplace rights, and negotiate a strong first contract that honors the dedication these public servants bring to their community. This is Teamsters unity at its best.”
